Rock the streets
Heavy metal music fans are in for a treat as they can prepare to ditch their boring band tees and wear their favourite rock band on their feet. Vans, in collaboration with the greatest heavy metal bands of all time, Iron Maiden features memorable horror-influenced album covers as shoe designs.
Iron Maiden was formed in 1975 in East London. Having sold a record 70 million albums worldwide, this six-member English metal giant is sure to create a lasting impact on their fans with their hard-rock performances. The band is also often recognised for its mascot, Eddie a skeleton like-monster.
This season, Vans showcases the third instalment of the Vans-Iron Maiden project. It features cover artwork from the 1983 album Piece of Mind artistically displayed on two limited-edition styles, the Classic Slip-On and Sk8-Hi shoes. The other successful collaborations include Killers and the most popular song in the band’s history, The Trooper.
The Sk8-Hi design features a large graphic of Eddie, an enslaved monster that is chained down on the side panels of the shoe while the Classic Slip-On shows the same angst monster roaring at the front panel of the shoe. A prominent black band logo can be found on the outsole of the shoes.
The Iron Maiden "Piece of Mind" canvas shoe comes with Vans signature vulcanised rubber sole.
The Sk8-Hi shoe is retailed at RM289 while the Classic Slip-On style is retailed at RM249. Vans shoes are available at selected Stadium, Studio R and Royal Sporting House outlets.
