Unlimited data roaming for Celcom subscribers
by Hemananthani Sivanandam

newsdesk@thesundaily.com

CELCOM is offering its postpaid customers the benefit of unlimited data roaming within participating OpCo’s (Operating Companies) of TM International Berhad (TMI).

With Celcom’s Data Roaming Tariff (DRT), customers can now surf the internet, check e-mail and access their business network while away in countries such as Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for a flat rate of RM38 per day.

The promotion is a joint initiative with TMI umbrella of operating companies such as M1 in Singapore, Hello in Cambodia, XL in Indonesia, Dialog in Sri Lanka and Aktel in Bangladesh.

"As a member of TMI group, Celcom is always looking for opportunities to work together with our fellow OpCOs to offer our customers the best services at the very best value," said Celcom CEO, Datuk Shazalli Ramly.

With this tie-up, customers will automatically be able to use the data service while roaming with these operators and enjoy immediate benefits, hassle-free and without the need to worry about costs.

"This service caters to the increasing demand of internet usage, especially for customers with heavy data roaming consumption," he said.

Shazalli said in December 2008 alone, statistics show that about 59% of Celcom’s 3.4 million or an average of 167,000 monthly outbound customers travelled to these five countries.

This service is open to Celcom postpaid customers until July 31. Customers must ensure that they are roaming within the participating networks to enjoy this promotion.

No subscription is required, as all customers need to do, is to activate their roaming services prior to using it.
