Angels & Demons in 2-D digital
Catch this adaptation of Dan Brown’s best seller in this new improved format for the first time at selected GSC halls
GOLDEN Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd and movie distributor Buena Vista Columbia Tristar are ffering movie-goers in Malaysia the chance to experience mega-star Tom Hank’s latest movie Angels & Demons in 2-D digital format for the first time at selected halls in GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama (New Wing) and GSC Pavilion Kuala Lumpur for two weeks, from May 14 to 27.
Tickets for Angels & Demon in 2-D digital will be priced at RM13 in GSC Mid Valley and GSC Pavilion whereas in GSC 1 Utama, the tickets will be sold at RM12.
GSC general manager Irving Chee says: “As the leading cinema exhibitor, we always strive to bring movie fans the latest innovation in cinema technology, facilities and services for the best cinema experience.
“We kicked off the first-ever real-live 3-D version of Journey to the Centre of the Earth last year (2008), followed by the 3-D screening of the animation movie Bolt and Disney’s Jonas Brothers concert earlier this year.”

Disney also plans to re-release in 3-D digital format Toy Story in November, Toy Story 2 in February 2010 and Toy Story 3 (June 2010).
Chee adds: “It is only a natural progression for GSC to be able to screen movies in 2-D digital format and offer Malaysian movie patrons this improved viewing experience.
“GSC will look for more opportunities to showcase movies in 2-D digital based on Hollywood’s approved DCI (Digital Cinema Initiative) Compliance Digital format.”
DCI was created by Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal and Warner Brothers studios to establish specifications for an open architecture for digital cinema that ensures a uniform and high level of technical performance, reliability and quality control.
This is to ensure that Digital DCI format presentations using compliance source, projection and sound systems that are able to match, if not exceed, the quality of 35mm film presentations.
GSC’s digital halls also feature the Dolby Digital EX Cinema System which features outstanding Dolby full-surround audio quality and reliability.
The digital 2-D projection promises higher resolution images and state-of the art digital sound, which in turn, enhances overall viewing experience as the overall quality does not degrade over time as with the 35mm film format.
The 35mm version of Angels & Demons will also be available at the normal ticket price in GSC cinemas nationwide when the movie opens on Thursday.
Angels & Demons, which also stars Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer and Stellan Skarsgård, has Hanks reprising his role as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals.

Free screening
