LG joins the blogging community

ceremony at Menara Hap Seng in Kuala Lumpur.

As
blogs get more popular especially among the younger adults, companies cannot afford to ignore the fact that blogs have enormous marketing potential.

To capitalise on this, LG Electronics (LG) recently launched its blog,
www.lgblog.com.my, at a special event hosted for the Malaysian blogger community, making it the first electronics manufacturer to do so.

It will be a platform for feedback on LG’s latest products, events, activities and promotions.

Gathering some of its elite staff and bloggers at the launch in Menara Hap Seng, LG Malaysia CEO and managing director Ko Tae Yeon is ambitious about making the company click with local youngsters, if not all Malaysians.

“The consumer landscape is fast evolving and it is important that we keep updated with the latest trends and lifestyles,” he said.

“We see the bloggers as a pulse of the younger consumers, whose independent viewpoints are often considered by the public as unbiased and credible.

“We want to communicate with our customers in every single moment, be it using the traditional method or not, and blogging is just another way of doing it.”

Joking that the setting up of the blog website only cost the company RM1, LG marketing manager Seow Swee Miee said the entire project took them three months to complete.

“My collegues and I will take some time to post articles about new LG products, answer readers’ comments or even introduce Korean culture and new trends in our blog,” he said.

Consumers may log on to the blog to read more about new product, reviews from independent third parties, share their own user experience on the blogs or even take part in online contest to win fabulous prizes.
