Gisele is top-earning model
Business magazine Forbes recently announced the list of top-earning fashion models that features exactly the same line-up as last year: Gisele Bündchen (pix) takes the crown, followed by Heidi Klum, Kate Moss, Adriana Lima, and Doutzen Kroes. But there are new trends to be observed as to how they do it, says Forbes.
Gisele who earned US$25 million (RM87.5 million) last year – from June 2008 to June 2009 – heads the list for the fifth time in a row. Even though she is no longer part of the cast of the lingerie label Victoria’s Secret, Gisele was able to add some top-budget campaigns to her portfolio last year.
Forbes noted that even if the German top model Claudia Schiffer was right declaring that "the age of the supermodel is over" two years ago given that celebrities have been taking the campaign spots of fashion models, the Cindys, Naomis, and Lindas of the world have fought back and expanded their businesses.
The German model Heidi Klum, for example, seems to be doing fashion shoots – such as the one for German Vogue for prestige only and is now earning her living as a TV show host (Project Runway, Germany’s Next Top Model) and designer (Birkenstock). - AFP Relaxnews
