No total retirement

WHILE some artistes believe that there is no such thing as retirement, others feel otherwise.

Donnie Yan (left), for instance, feels that after having been in the limelight as a lead actor for so many years, things should come to an end.

In an interview with the New York Times, he reportedly said he would call it quits as an actor when he turns 50 or by 2013.

However, he stressed, quitting the limelight does not mean total retirement as he hopes to direct action movies in the future.

New challenge

AWARD-WINNING actress Maggie Cheung (left) has set a new goal for herself – to release a debut album.

Though she did not have much confidence in her singing, a French couple she met had encouraged her.

The first time she sang professionally was for Clean, a film directed by ex-husband Olivier Assayas, in which she crooned four songs.

"I do not intend to sing for a living," she said. "It’s just that I’m not satisfied in doing just one thing (acting) and hence, I’ve decided to give music a try."

Baring all for art

IT’S not every actress who can bare all on the big screen without feeling embarrassed but Maggie Q (left) seems to take it all in her stride.

In her new movie, she would be required to do some sizzling bedroom scenes and show some flesh but the actress is not worried.

"I never count the number of kissing scenes or bedroom scenes that I do in a movie, and as long as they go along with the story and are necessary, I would not feel awkward or embarrassed.

"It’s just a shame that people view such scenes with coloured eyes."

Quitting the limelight

WITH the addition to her family, Kenix Kwok (right) is said to be quitting the limelight to become a full-fledged housewife.

Husband Lam Man Lung has confirmed her plans in a recent interview. He said: "Being an actress is much more difficult than being an actor.

"If we have a 6am call, they have to be in earlier to put on make-up and after that, to remove the make-up, etc. Then, there’s outdoor filming.

"But of course, if she comes across a script and a role that she absolutely loves, then we’ll see …." – Compiled by Sharyn Yap
