planning a wedding and the reception can attest to the fact that it’s a nightmare finding the right hall, the right caterer and the right decorations as well as looking into a thousand other details.
Now, there’s an answer to all these woes. Tropicana Golf & Country Resort’s newly-renovated ballroom at the Tropicana Clubhouse is a wedding planner’s paradise.
The resort is located in the prime suburb of Petaling Jaya. This 253-hectare gated community is home to thousands of residents who favour the convenience and comfort of resort facilities right on their doorstep.
A large fountain in front of the Clubhouse greets you as you enter the resort. There is ample parking for functions and the restaurants here are quite renowned for their cuisine.
The series of renovations at the Clubhouse was initiated by the club’s CEO and founder Tan Sri Danny Tan Chee Sing in late 2007.
Herman Tan, the general manager of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, said: "The objective is to upgrade the landmark clubhouse that has been serving residents, members and guests since March 1994.
"The 12,000sq ft Grand Ballroom is our grande dame and the highlight of our overall renovation process." The transformation cost RM5 million.
The renovations started with Palms Wing, which is the new F&B wing featuring the Pimento Italian restaurant, the Momotalo Yakiniku Japanese traditional char-grilled restaurant, the modern French Cuisine Studio restaurant, and the Havana bar, pool and karaoke lounge.
This was followed by the two-storey building that houses Kindlyland kindergarten, the recently-relocated and renovated Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant as well as the Gold House at the Gold Wing.
Elaborate enhancements were added to the grand foyer and golf registration at the Sports Wing as well.
The ballroom now sports new chandeliers, state-of-the-art lighting, flat-screen TVs, audio and video systems, drop-down projection screens and advanced lighting control system with Martin smartMAC moving heads which can illuminate the hall with coloured lights and even logos.
The colour scheme is sage, topaz and earth tones, giving the ballroom an overall neutral feel which can then easily be enhanced with decorations and lighting.
The Grand Ballroom can take up to 900 banquet guests, inclusive of the stage which can be set up for a traditional Malay, Chinese or Indian wedding and reception as well as a western affair.
For more intimate events, the Grand Ballroom can be divided into three sections, each taking up to 300 pax.

"We offer guests a truly exquisite Tropicana experience when they hold their social or professional events in our gorgeous Grand Ballroom and boutique function rooms," said Tan.
