Alternative ways towards sportiness

Exercising is well and good but there is a faster way to an athletic look: Parisian designers suggest dressing up in cycling shorts and sweat bands.

Anne Valérie Hash already made a bold statement by dressing her models in sporty sneakers rather than the usual high heels at the beginning of Paris Fashion Week, and the sportive theme became one of the key trends in the course of the event.

Sonia Rykiel sent her girls down the runway wearing 1980s-inspired cycling shorts underneath skirts and dresses, as did Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton.

But no one took the trend as literal as Jean Paul Gaultier, head designer at Hermès: he turned his runway into a tennis lawn and even had models wearing sweat bands playing tennis at the end of the show. It remained unclear how the house’s signature luxe leathers would mix with sweating away on a tennis lawn.

Also just recently, fashion-forward designers such as Jeremy Scott or Yohji Yamamoto teamed up with sporstwear brands such as Adidas for conceptual ranges of sportive fashion. – AFP Relaxnews
