SIX
lucky children aged between seven and nine will be escorting Manchester United FC and Besiktas JK players right into the Old Trafford pitch – the home of Manchester United FC where the UEFA Champions League fifth group stage matches will be played.

The six – Hannah Lim, Aljefri Yaafar, Er Chuin Yan, Ng Ka Bo, Soh Jinn Ren and Tan Zing Shawn won the "Little Champions" priceless experiences contest organised by MasterCard – official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, in association with the Standard Chartered Bank.

They will join 18 other children from Singapore, Hongkong, Korea and the United Arab Emirates to be the first children in Asia and the Middle East to escort the players at the league matches.

"The Little Champions and their parents are very excited as they will be cheered by millions worldwide and create history! We are delighted to have joined MasterCard to bring this promotion to our customers," said Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad country head of consumer banking, Tiew Siew Chuen.

"The response has been excellent. As we enter the next phase, our customers can continue to participate and also win exclusive UEFA Champions League branded MasterCard merchandise," said Tiew.

"We remain committed to deepening our customer relationship by offering the best products and promotions," he added.

"As a proud supporter of football and official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, we can feel the excitement of our Little Champions as we send them off on an unforgettable experience with their football heroes," said MasterCard Worldwide vice president and senior country manager (Malaysia and Brunei) Jim Cheah.

"The UEFA Champions League is one of the most prestigious club trophies in European football, and this joint programme with Standard Chartered demonstrates our shared commitment in providing our cardholders with priceless experiences," said Cheah.

Airfares were sponsored by Standard Chartered while hotel stay and tickets to the match for both the children and accompanying adults were sponsored by MasterCard.

Two other lucky winners will be selected from the second phase of the campaign which runs from Dec 1 to Jan 31, for the knockout round which will be held in March.
