QSR Brands Bhd (QSR) chairman Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim said at the launch: “We are always seeking to expand and capture new markets.”
QSR managing director Jamaludin Md Ali said the catering service will provide for corporate gatherings and family functions.
“Pizza Hut is now situated in cities and districts, so this service will help us reach rural areas,” he added.
Emblazoned with the words “Hot On Wheels”, each 30-foot mobile caravan is painted flaming red and cannot be missed.
The mobile kitchens can prepare up to 100 pizzas an hour.
Pizza Hut had successfully tested the first mobile kitchen over the past year at events like the Malaysia MotoGP, MTV Worlds Stage, Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta and the International Kite Festival in Johor.
Muhammad Ali said they hoped to have two more mobile kitchens before the year ends, and plan to expand to Sabah and Sarawak. The company opened 21 new outlets nationwide over the past year.
The launch of the mobile kitchens coincided with the company’s nationwide charity project, where the chain delivered 1, 900 pizzas to more than 75, 000 orphans, disabled people and old folk in almost 100 charity homes.
At the launch, 200 residents from these homes participated in activities such as giant snakes and ladders, video games, inflatable gym, dunking tanks and building bricks.
In addition, five charities received cheques worth between RM2,000 and RM5,000.
“We at Pizza Hut believe in supporting the community. This is evident in our social and educational projects which support entrepreneurship, sports, education and halal matters,” said Muhammad Ali.
