He will receive 16,000 pounds a year to cover his tuition fees and living expenses.
Chan whose father is a lawyer, says when he got straight As for his SPM, his father told him to do law at BAC.
"We heard good things about the college and the qualities it stresses on, so I wasn’t hesitant in joining.
"I believe good achievements will not come without good people around you to support you. And this was proven with the encouragement I received from my lecturers," said Chan, who also received the Cambridge "Brilliance in Malaysia" award for being "Top in Malaysia" in his A-Levels business studies.
He said the lecturers were always willing to offer their time to assist students.
Chan said the college also brings in lecturers from the University of London to conduct lectures during the revision period.
"Recently, Ken Oliphant and Justine Fischer came over. It was great exposure for us as the methods and material are different."
Chan, who enjoys spending time with his family every weekend, studies at an average of four hours a day.
"I’m not the kind who can depend on the attention spent during lectures. I need to work hard, and revising at home is what makes me remember better," he said.
